The beaded butterfly motif is used by other basket makers from this family, including Agnes’s mother, Molly Timothy, and her Aunt, Katherine Dominick. Each of the women appears to construct the butterfly in a slightly different way, but common to all three women is the short, long, short beading pattern on the butterfly wings.
Technique: Slat and bundle coil construction. Loopwork around head end of basket.
Materials: Cedar wood slats, split cedar or spruce root. Beaded designs are of bitter cherry bark and canary grass.
