Description:

One oval shaped Northern Coast Salish basket with a flat lid. Slat coil construction. Base of basket is 6 slats wide and walls are 8 slats high. Top slat is inset to fit lid. Basket design includes a diamond motif on all 4 sides. The centre of the diamond is corn husk; outlined with 2 stitches of black cherry bark. Top of diamond motif is not complete. Four star motifs on side of diamond.

 

Lid is constructed of 8 slats base and 1 high to fit over the base.  Edge of lid is bundle coil.  Decoration on top of lid forms bars and pyramids.

 

Techniques: slat coil, bundle coil, imbrication


Materials: cedar, cedar root, cherry bark, corn husk

 

Overall Dimensions:  26 cm long x 14 cm wide x 12 cm high
